    A species-agnostic principle worth stating plainly: every snake species has spectacles, and every one of them can retain a stuck eye cap — an arid-species keeper isn't exempt from this risk, they just need the humid hide to do the work the ambient humidity doesn't. Among common gecko species, every one has spectacles too, except the eyelid geckos — leopard and fat-tailed geckos have true eyelids and simply cannot retain an eye cap the way a spectacled species can.
